Read it all, not just the first page
A signature usually means you accept every term. Taking a little time to understand the contract can save a great deal of trouble later.
What to check
- Parties: are the names and legal status of everyone involved correct?
- What each side must do: are duties and deliverables clear and specific?
- Payment: how much, when and on what conditions?
- Duration and ending: how long does it last and how can it be ended?
- Disputes: what happens if there is a disagreement?
Ask questions early
If something is unclear, ask before you sign. A contract review can explain key terms and suggest changes to raise with the other side. This article is general information and not advice on your individual matter.
