General information only, not a substitute for advice on your individual matter. Rules change, so confirm the current position before you act.
Two different obligations
Business owners often hear both terms and assume they are the same thing. They are not.
Annual returns
Annual returns are filed with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). They keep the public record about a company up to date, for example by confirming details about the company and its officers.
Tax returns
Tax returns are filed with tax authorities. They report income and other tax-related information and are governed by tax rules rather than company registry rules.
Why it matters
Filing one does not satisfy the other. A business should understand both obligations and keep track of each separately. Requirements, forms and timelines can change, so always confirm the current position with the relevant authority or a professional adviser.
ContactPoint Attorneys supports CAC filings and corporate compliance. For tax-specific questions, please consult a qualified tax professional.
CONTACTPOINT ATTORNEYS is an independent service provider and is not the Corporate Affairs Commission or a government agency.
